Flexible Administration...

As BlackBerrys proliferate throughout an organisation, the amount of daily administration increases. BES administrators find their time consumed more and more by “user level” helpdesk admin work, and less time is devoted to “strategic maintenance” and planning in the BES environment. Local Business Unit Administration allows them to delegate administration to business units.
BES and MSM centrally managed

The Problem

In large complex BES environments BES administrators struggle with “survival administration” as the requests on their time increase with every user added, as new users require not only provisioning, but also IT Policy and Application administration. This leads to:

  1. BES administrators getting consumed with day to day tasks and strategic planning being overlooked
  2. Users not getting prompt service as BES Administrators are too busy
  3. Greater cost as highly skilled BES and system engineers are doing low level admin tasks
  4. Greater costs and delays in communication as business units have to request minor admin tasks centrally
  5. Business units and users not getting the required service level

Imagine if adding new users didn’t increase the work on BES administrators proportionally. Imagine if local business units could perform the BES Admin tasks and the BES Administrators only had to worry about strategic BES issues. MSM can deliver this.

The Solution: MSM

The local business unit administration feature of MSM allows the BES and MSM infrastructure to be centrally managed by the BES Administrator and allows all user administration to be carried out by individual business units. These business units could be separated geographically, e.g. Madrid, New York, Singapore. In some organisations the business units may be segregated by line of business, e.g. investment banking, corporate banking, research etc.
